If you are searching for funding for a project to promote health, housing, and food access equity, get your community organization to submit a proposal to the Innovation Fund, sponsored by the Convergence Partnership. Funding promotes “health and equity through built environment and healthy food access policy.”
Local and regional community organizations and philanthropic institutions are encouraged to submit a proposal that would “support the launch of new grant making initiatives designed to enhance the built environment and/or expand healthy food access in low-income communities and communities of color in order to improve health and promote equity.” Organizations may receive up to $200,000 annually for a three-year period according to need. Individuals may submit a proposal on behalf of a community. However, priority will be given to proposals submitted by philanthropic organizations.
The Innovation Fund was created to engage philanthropic organizations in the effort to create healthy spaces for all people through the formulation and enforcement of environmental change policies and grants. Convergence Partnership is using this fund to provide an incentive for communities to make “non-traditional partnerships” with philanthropic organizations, policy-makers, and government organizations to work towards the goal of healthy and equitable environments and neighborhoods.
The deadline to submit proposals is August 9, 2012, 5pm PT. Perspective applicants are strongly encouraged to attend one of the following webinars to gain more information about the application process and what ensues after the decision is made:
