A draft water pollution permit has been issued to the City of Baltimore by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). This authorizes the city to regulate the pollution discharge directly from stormwater pipes into your streams, rivers and Harbor. More importantly, this draft lacks limits on the amount of pollution allowed in local waterways, and deadlines on which such limits must be reached.
Demand MDE take a stand on behalf of your environment and well being by signing the letter composed by Baltimore Harbor Waterkeeper. It is imperative to inform MDE that you refuse to settle for such a poorly composed draft permit, and that you want a final permit that will result in real improvements to your waterways.
We strongly encourage you to add your signature to their public comment letter by September 19. The letter will be directly submitted to MDE by Baltimore Harbor Waterkeeper.
