National Night Out (NNO) bills itself as “America’s night out against crime” and communities in and around Baltimore are participating in the 29th annual nationwide event on Tuesday, August 7th that brings neighbors together to organize against crime and have fun. Contact your local community association to learn about an event in your neighborhood.
Goals of National Night Out include generating support for local anti-crime programs and facilitating community-police partnerships. Communities traditionally celebrate NNO with block parties, cookouts, police visits, youth programs, and more. If you are a community association and would like to find out more about how your community can inexpensively commemorate this event and to register your neighborhood, see the NNO registration page and make sure you are permitted for a special event if applicable (see http://permits.baltimorecity.gov/SpecialEvents.aspx for event permitting information).
