Baltimore Art and Justice Community Dialogue: Getting to the Root

Art and Justice Project Courtesy MICA

Join Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in creating a tighter community among local artists by fighting for justice through art. The Baltimore Art + Justice Project is an effort to create a foundation for advocacy and collaboration for local artists and designers, arts organizations, community-based organizations, advocates, and funders.

The project serves to “facilitate dialogue and data collection that enables the city of Baltimore to identify and better understand its art and design based social justice assets.”  The project will build a web-based mapping resource for use by those who want to advance social justice in Baltimore through art.  The project plans to achieve this via a four step process: 1) Community Dialogue and Outreach, 2) Data Collection and Analysis, 3) Visualization and Storytelling, and 4) Documentation and Process Evaluation.

Be sure to become a part of this great project and make a difference in the community. For any additional information on this project please contact Kalima Young at kyoung01@mica.edu or410-225-4268.
