Party on the Pier for World Oceans Day

The National Aquarium will host a weekend-long festival to celebrate World Oceans Day on June 7 and 8 with special events and activities on the Waterfront Plaza from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Visitors will be encouraged to assist Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) guest artist, Kasey Jones, in building a sculpture of Calypso, the famous green sea turtle, using up-cycled (repurposed) items.

Family-centered special presentations, demonstrations, and “exploration stations” will be offered both inside and outside the facility, hosted by the National Aquarium Animal Rescue and Conservation teams, and regional conservation partners.  (All special events inside the facility require regular paid admission price.)

Live music and cooking demonstrations will be available on the pier.  Local seafood, barbecue, and other refreshments will be available for purchase, as well as local beer and wine selections for people 21 or older.

Visit the National Aquarium Youtube page to see videos of the staff and animals in action.  The event will be held:

Saturday, June 7 & Sunday, June 8
10:00 am – 3:00 pm (both days)
