Changes to Red Line Funding

The MTA is requesting a change to the construction funding plan for the Red Line. The requested amendments to the 2014-2017 Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) includes shifting $69 million from 2014 to 2015 (fiscal year) and adding $400 million to the construction Phase in 2016 and 2017. The $400 million would come in the form of federal New Starts program funding and state matching funds.

Review why the Red Line is a positive project for residents in Baltimore City and surrounding counties, read a personal perspective if you like, attend the public meeting Wednesday, August 27, and then voice your opinion! The amendments are open for public comment until Friday, September 12.

The Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) is also proposing an amendment to its bylaws, which are open for public comment until Monday, September 8. The changes include adding a representative of public transportation, among other items.
