Mayor Names New Transportation and Housing Directors

This Thursday, Mayor Pugh announced her choice for department heads of three major city agencies. Michelle Porciau will head the Department of Transportation. She is a former Director of Washington DC’s Department of Transportation and has experience with speed and red light camera systems. Baltimore City previously had a speed and red light camera system but its rollout was halted due to issues with the system’s accuracy.

Under Mayor Pugh, Baltimore City will have different individuals head the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and the Housing Authority. Previously they were combined into one position. Mark Braverman, a long time veteran of city government will run the Department of Housing and Community Development while Janet Abrahams, a long-time public housing official in a number of cities, will run the Housing Authority which oversees Baltimore’s many public housing units as well as its housing vouchers.

We wish these individuals luck and look forward to working with them. You can read more in the Baltimore Sun and Baltimore Business Journal.
