Livelier Baltimore Committee

CPHA is reigniting the Livelier Baltimore Committee to serve as a cheerleader for Baltimore’s civic pride. In the 1970’s, the Committee put together several editions of the BAWLAMER guidebook and started the City Fair, which was an urban version of a County Fair, all for the purpose of taking Baltimore to the next level of civic pride and engagement with the best that Baltimore has to offer.

If you are interested in serving on the new Committee for a Livelier Baltimore, please contact CPHA’s former Associate Director and current Chair of the Committee, Jacqueline Lampell, at jacqui@cphabaltimore.org.  Also, check out the Committee’s Facebook Page: facebook.com/groups/livelierbaltimore.

PURPOSE:  To promote the benefits of living, working and enjoying Baltimore City and its surrounding areas.

WHAT WILL WE DO:  Create projects that promote the benefits of living, working and enjoying Baltimore City and its surrounding areas. One example is a reincarnation of the “BAWLAMER Guidebook – an irreverent guide to a livelier Baltimore.”  Another is working with a team to re-envision the City Fair.

THE SKILLS WE’LL NEED:  Many kinds of volunteers are needed – from cheerleaders to Sherlock Holmes-types.  There will be small projects that you can do in a weekend, and long-range projects (like writing, editing and designing) that will take months to complete.

WHAT YOU’LL GET OUT OF IT:  Lots of fun and meeting new people.  The satisfaction of working on a successful, highly visible project from start to finish.  And, best of all a great feeling of pride in bringing positive attention to the city we love – BAWLAMER!
